There will be a community grief share event on August 6th

Heather Paul, Ritual Artist, Grief Guide, Senior Jewish Educator and Student Rabbi at Illini Hillel, with support from Melanie Sheckels of Threshold Doula, and Debra Joy Hart, will leading a grief share event at 25 O’Clock Brewing on August 6th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will honor the Jewish Day of Mourning, Tisha b’Av, and will be an opportunity for community members recognize the personal and collective losses over the past couple of years. There will be a story slam, where attendees are encouraged to share a story of loss. Those interested can fill out a form so that organizers have an idea of how many people are interested in sharing, but they also welcome anyone to participate the night of the event. Organizers “encourage you to consider “story” and “loss” broadly – death is one kind of loss, and words tell one kind of story. Art of any kind themed on loss of any kind is welcome.”

There will be light snacks provided, and drinks will be available for purchase.
