The emu lives! It’s been a while since it was last sighted, but Jacob Dickey just shared this video on his Facebook page, taken by Arnoud Buzing. Look at this emu, just out there, living its best life. The feathers look good, the energy is high, this emu is thriving it seems.
For those that don’t know, the emu was first spotted in Urbana on May 9th, 2023 attempting to cross I-74 near the University Ave exit, after escaping his pen and evading many attempts to capture it. It has been free for a full year and has become something of a mascot to the community. You can even buy merch from Dixon Graphics.
