After some internet speculation, it was confirmed on WCIA today that Scott Cochrane is moving his Red Lion bar to a new location. His initial intent was to renovate the bar at Third and Green. According to the article, he has a new, undisclosed location, and it will open in 2024.
The building opened in 1966 as The Red Lion Inn, a live music venue. Since then it’s been your typical college bar with plastic cups, sticky floors, and lines out the door. When I was in college it was Bub’s, and it was Station 211 when Cochrane took ownership and brought the Red Lion name back.
The bar was in the news in March for an altercation involving an employee.
