Later this summer, a new restaurant called El Trujillanito Kitchen & Bar will open with a menu of Peruvian and American cuisine on State Street. El Trujillanito will offer ceviche, arroz caufa (Peruvian fried rice), pollo ala brasa (roasted chicken with fries and salad), lomo saltado (Peruvian beef with bell peppers, onion, tomato, scallions, and a little soy sauce served with rice and fries), and more. The new restaurant will be in the space that was once a Hooters and the Champaign County GOP.

The new restaurant’s owners are from Peru, and they’ve always dreamed of having their own restaurant. The restaurant is anticipated to open in August. Follow the restaurant’s Facebook page for updates on the menu and more opening details.
