Well, 34 years ago yesterday (September 22nd) if we want to be technical about it.
Inspired by Live Aid, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp created Farm Aid, and held the massive concert event right here in Champaign at Memorial Stadium. There were 80,000 attendees and it raised $7 million. Here are some cool before, during, and after shots of the stadium, found in the Champaign Urbana History Facebook group:
