Community Foundation of East Central Illinois and United Way have started a relief fund

The boards of both Community Foundation of East Central Illinois and United Way of Champaign County have collaborated to create a COVID-19 relief fund that will support their respective community partners. Each organzation’s board has seeded the fund with up to $50,000. Individuals are not eligible to receive these funds. They will be given to “community-based organizations that are directly supporting local residents and families who are most affected by emerging health, economic, and social impacts.”

Those recipients will be identified from community advisors, the Boards of Directors and local units of government, and there will be no formal application process.

You can contribute to the relief fund by going to either one of the links above. In an effort to cast a wide net, so to speak, they are not considering “restricted” donations. You may make a recommendation, but CFECI and United Way have discretion to use all donations in a way they feel will be most beneficial.
