YWCA of the University of Illinois Celebrates Women in the Community

The YWCA of University of Illinois will be hosting their 31st Annual Women’s Achievement Celebration on Thursday, March 16th from 6-8pm at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This awards celebration honors women in our community who are advancing that mission.

This year’s recipients are Jaya Kolisetty, associate director of R.A.C.E.S. (Advocacy), Kelly Jo Lamb, owner of Piato Cafe (Business), Katrina Kennett, co-founder of EdCampCU (Education), Nadja Bee Shoemaker, retired University of Illinois microbiologist (STEM), and Ellen McDowell, financial director and volunteer for the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen (Social Justice). 

Tickets are still available, and can be purchased on the YWCA website. Dinner is included.
