My stepsister and I for real watched this movie every weekend of my latter childhood years. It was one of about 3 VHS tapes that lived at our parents’ house, and it never got old. I’m still down for Top Gun viewing now after seeing it approximately 5,286 times.
Thanks to the Illini Union Board, you can see it for free, on the big screen, on the quad this Thursday at 7 p.m. in honor of Illinois Homecoming. What does this 80’s gem have to do with Homecoming? The Grand Marshal of this Friday’s parade will be U of I alum Scott Altman (’81) who is an actual Top Gun graduate. He was also a stunt pilot for the film.
So go check out this iconic Tom Cruise flick, one of those that came out before we all realized he was crazy.
