Time to try something new: register for a Community Education course at Parkland

Parkland recently put out their community ed course offerings for January through March, so maybe one of your New Year’s resolutions should be pick up a new hobby or build up your job skills. Here are some possibilities:

Self Defense:

“Acquire highly effective skills that can increase your awareness, improve your risk reduction and avoidance, then progress to basic hands-on self defense. Certified instructor Shelby May leads you through realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women.”

Introduction to Glass Blowing:

“Create blown glass objects like an ornament or small vessel using the familiar benchtop torch in the private studio of glass artist Jason Mack. Learn necessary safety practices, the best types of tools and glass for the craft, and lampworking techniques. Take home your small creations—great for gifting or personal use.”

Knife Skills:

“Learn how to slice, dice, mince, and julienne with Amanda Perez-Rosser. Practice your paring skills as you identify safe kitchen practices and create a delicious stir-fry straight from your cutting board.”

I Could Be Your Parent So Why Are You My Boss (I kind of love this title):

“Explore the challenges and barriers that await millennials stepping into leading multi-generational teams.  Gain strategies on how to be successful in getting buy-in from all staff members despite the large generational gap between millennials and baby boomers.  Jonathan Woods MSN, RN, NE-BC, executive director at Carle will equip you with:

Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED:
