There’s a shred event happening at State Farm Center this Saturday

Crime Stoppers of Champaign County is hosting a document shredding event at State Farm Center this Saturday, October 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon. They will be in the E-14 Lot at First and Kirby. They will accept up to two bankers boxes of paper, and are asking for a $10 suggested donation.

This will also be an opportunity to recycle old cell phones, for a suggested donation of $10 per phone. From the Crime Stoppers website: “Triad Shredding will remove the batteries then shred all the phones that are collected. The shredded phone and battery packs will then be recycled properly.”

Champaign Police and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be on hand to collect unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications. It’s free and anonymous, and all materials will be incinerated by the DEA.

No registration is necessary, but make sure to read the procedures and COVID safety policies before you go.
