Proceeds from this inaugural event will benefit a new United Way women’s scholarship fund and support Emergency Shelter for Families in Champaign County.

Supporting Scholarships & Emergency Shelter for Families
Scholarships for Women – Scholarships will be awarded to women living in Champaign County pursuing job training, technical or vocational certification, or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. This new scholarship fund aims to provide life-changing contributions toward the educational expenses of women.
Emergency Shelter for Families – Over 300 school children were registered with no permanent address in Champaign County this year. Power of the Purse will provide financial support for the Emergency Shelter for Families, which provides emergency housing for homeless families who may otherwise have nowhere to stay. The Shelter program provides case management services to help families end the cycle of homelessness.
