Peoria Charter Coach lays off 95% of workforce

Peoria Charter Coach, the Peoria-based transportation company that serves a very large number of University of Illinois students and C-U community members, has just laid off 95% of its employees.

According to a Facebook post, the company had 140 employees in March, and is now down to eight employees.

We’re seeing the devastating effects COVID-19 has had on the travel, leisure, and hospitality industries, especially as federal PPP loans are expiring. Just this week, we shared the sad news of the closures of Bossa Nova, Pekara in Downtown Champaign, and Shiners Moonshine.
