Krannert Art Museum, in partnership is with the University of Illinois Department of American Indian Studies, is hosting the next installment of its Native Art Series lecture series on March 5th and here’s what why you need to be there.
“Native North American Art Now” offers a “conversation about contemporary scholarly, artistic, and curatorial practice,” and will feature exhibiting artist Naomi Bebo (Menominee and Ho-Chunk Nations); artist Andrea Carlson (Ojibwe Nation); and curator Candice Hopkins (Tlingit Nation); co-moderated by Jenny Davis (Chickasaw Nation), Chancellor’s Fellow of Indigenous Research and Ethics and Assistant Professor of Anthropology and American Indian Studies; and Amy L. Powell, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art.
The Native Artist Series offers public lectures, performances, and sustained engagement with students through studio visits, classroom workshops, and informal conversations at Native American House, American Indian Studies, School of Art + Design, and Krannert Art Museum.
