Lee Gaines, education reporter for Illinois Newsroom, will be moderating a panel discussion on campus policing, with the intent of examining what campus safety would look like if university cops were defunded or abolished.
The panel discussion on February 25th at 7 p.m. will last 45 minutes, followed up by a 45 minute Q&A. You can view and participate in the discussion through Facebook Live.
Illinois Newsroom is looking for input from U of I students in the form of video testimonials answering the questions:
- Do you feel safe on campus?
- How does the presence of police on campus make you feel?
- How do you feel about efforts to defund the police??
