Parkland College’s spring semester concert featuring the Parkland Wind Ensemble and Parkland Chamber Singers is coming up on March 11th. This joint concert is free and open to the public and looks to include a variety of genres, ranging from African American spirituals to a John Williams movie score. Below are some of the selections that each group will be performing.
Directed by Franklin Gallo, the Chamber Singers will perform It Takes a Whole Village by Joan Szymko; Sing Me to Heaven by Daniel Gawthrop; Tenebrae Factae Sunt by Michael Haydn; Good Night by Matthew Emery; and Soon Ah Will Be Done an African American Spiritual arranged by William Dawson.
The Wind Ensemble, directed by Jonathan Beckett, will perform Sabre Dance by Aram Khachaturian; Joplin’s Ragtime Follies arranged by Jim Curnow; Parade of the Ewoks by John Williams, from Return of the Jedi; An American in Paris by George Gershwin, arranged by John Krance; and Mardi Gras (from Mississippi Suite) by Ferde Grofe.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. at the Harold and Jean Miner Theatre at Parkland College. Admission is free.
