Mary Poppins Jr. is the next Champaign Park District Youth Theatre offering, and it’s coming up July 19-21 at the Virginia Theatre. The popular story will be brought to life by group of 63 5th through 8th graders. Since this is exactly the age range where both of my children fall, I’ve had the opportunity to check out of few of these shows in support of their friends (Elf was a personal favorite), and it’s really pretty amazing how hard these kids work and how much budding talent there is here in C-U. A few fun facts about the show:
The actors represent 24 area schools.
Each actor has two or more roles.
The show will feature over 200 costumes and over 100 props.
Your favorite songs are included (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, and Feed the Birds, to name a few) but there are also original numbers that are only featured in the stage version of the show.
