More news about Campustown bars: Both Firehaus (708 S. Sixth) and The Clybourne (aka Cly’s, 706 S. Sixth) are closing in September, and will be demolished, per the Daily Illini. This news comes a few days after KAM’s announced they were undergoing new ownership, one of which includes Firehaus/Cly’s owner Scott Cochrane. Firehaus and Cly’s will close after Labor Day Weekend.
While it is unconfirmed as to what will go in the place of these buildings, you have to expect there’s some rumblings about new highrise apartments. Cochrane mentioned this in an interview with the Gazoo, but did not give comment for the DI article about this.
