Sprouts at the Market Kicks Off May 21st with Help from First Federal Bank

Urbana’s Market at the Square’s popular farm linkage and nutrition program, Sprouts at the Market, returns for another season this Saturday, May 21st from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the northwest corner of the Market.

Sprouts at the Market will occur every third Saturday of the month and will encompass a different theme each time. For this upcoming program, it will be “JLCU Kids in the Kitchen”. The Junior League of Champaign-Urbana and Sprouts will offer children the opportunity to learn about healthy eating, nutrition and physical activity. The program will include sampling a healthy and locally-sourced snack, creating a kid-friendly cookbook and more. For a complete program schedule please visit www.urbanaillinois.us/sprouts.

To support and advance the Sprouts at the Market program, First Federal Savings Bank of Champaign-Urbana will fund many of this season’s Sprouts programs.  As a Champaign-Urbana neighborhood bank since 1908, First Federal Savings Bank of Champaign-Urbana has been an active partner in growing the community through expanding education opportunities and helping local families.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to partner this season with First Federal Savings Bank of Champaign-Urbana,” said Market Director Natalie Kenny Marquez. “They are giving us the chance to provide an incredibly valuable learning experience for all the children and families participating in the Sprouts programs. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with an organization in our community that complements our mission and goals at the farmers market.”

Urbana’s Market at the Square is open every Saturday, rain or shine, through November 7th, from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. The Market is located outdoors at the corner of Illinois and Vine Streets in downtown Urbana.
