Champaign Art Salon — September 20-22

What happens when you take a completely raw space, add 17 local and visiting visual artists, choreographers and musicians?  Find out this weekend, when 40 E. University Avenue, the former Habitat for Humanity space, will transform into Champaign Art Salon.

Dance artist Laura Chiaramonte, salon curator and choreographer, imagined this collaborative event as an “exchange of ideas, observation, and conversation.”

Chiaramonte will be presenting an excerpt of her full length work, CORPOREAL, which premiered in Chicago this past April, and which represents a collaboration with her mother, visual artist Janet Chiaramonte, who created an installation of various monoprints for the work. The performance moved around the installation, allowing the dancers and installation to conform together in the space, living and adapting.

Featured artists include: Baub Alred, Aleksandra Ewa Sarnicka, Jamie Marlow, Maxx Gogski, Alex Gogski, Robin Lee, Alana Parekh, Jessica Cornish, Baramei Ung, Amanda Pesch, Momar Ndiaye, Laura Chiaramonte, Janet Chiaramonte, Stacey Gross, Debra Domal, Pilar Stenger and Alex Wallbaum.
