The Champaign-Urbana One to One mentoring program matches students in elementary, middle, and high school with adult mentors whom they meet with once a week throughout the school year. As this school year gears up, the program is once again looking for adults that would be willing to spend an hour a week making a difference in a child’s life. I started mentoring last year, and the experience is incredibly rewarding. You don’t have to be a parent or have any experience, just the ability to listen and an interest in the well-being of youth in our community. There are three trainings coming up over the next couple of months, so plenty of opportunities to get involved:
Tuesday, September 19th, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Urbana Free Library
Thursday, September 28th, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Champaign Mellon Administrative Center
Tuesday, October 10th, 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., Champaign Mellon Administrative Center
