Back in January, news surfaced that Stone Creek golf course and Attie’s would be permanently closing at the end of the month. After several months of navigating what it meant to transition the course into something else, Fighting Illini Atheltics announced today that the course has been gifted to them by Atkins Group. The total value of the gift “exceeds $15 million” and the course will be renamed The Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois if the Board of Trustees approves it. The course is expected to open to the public Spring 2021.
