On a one-off college tour, alternative rock band Young the Giant brought their energy to the State Farm Center on Thursday night. Performing for about an hour, the band delivered a scaled-down production, providing fans with an intimate, stripped-down version of their usual tour show. Playing hits like “Mind Over Matter” and “Superposition,” the quintet kept fans dancing throughout their entire set. Frontman Sameer Gadhia engrossed the audience in his intense energy from song to song, often interacting with the audience throughout the show.

After playing for roughly 45 minutes, the group exited the stage leaving the audience with a desire for more. Fortunately for us, they returned to play some of their most popular tracks. Gadhia re-emerged dressed in a sequined cloak that shined in the bright stage lights, drawing the crowd’s eyes into his fierce energy during songs like “Heart of the Summer.” Finishing the set with their top hit, “Cough Syrup,” Young the Giant had almost the whole crowd on their feet dancing to their feel-good beats.
