The Overture: April 9-15

MONDAY, April 9th

There are no shows scheduled for Monday, April 9th.

TUESDAY, April 10th

Nectar, Flasher, Bookmobile!

► The Iron Post // $8 advance/$10 door // 9 p.m.

Washington DC’s Flasher heads through for this one, which is situated between two locals — Nectar (celebrating their album release for this one), and Bookmobile! who hasn’t performed in a hot minute. Tuesday night works for a show if it looks like this one.

George Porter Jr., James Jones Trio

► The Canopy Club // $15 advance/$18 door // 9 p.m.

WEDNEDSDAY, April 11th

Wyclef Jean, Culture Crew

► The Canopy Club // $25-30 advance/$35 door // 7:30 p.m.

The legendary Wyclef Jean heads through Urbana on his tour called the Carinval — and you can read James’ interview with the man here. Jean’s solo career is incredible enough, and as one part of the Fugees, this is a pretty rare show opportunity to check out here in C-U.

Josh Quirk, Ian Shepherd, James Jones, Mitchell Killough

► Blackbird // free // 8 p.m.

THURSDAY, April 12th

Boneyard Arts Festival

► Various Venues // price + date varies

While predominantly a festival by 40 North that celebrates local artists across our community, there’s definitely music attached to it at certain points. Check out the link above to see all the options you have ahead of you this week, as Boneyard runs from the 12th through the 15th.

Spandrels have returned from their tour — which they were kind enough to report back for a Tour Diary for us — and they are slated for the Iron Post on Friday evening. They’re joined by Sleeping Okami, another excellent local band, and Lung out of Ohio.

The Dry Look, Maness Brothers, Mark Porkchop Holder, Primitive Lights

► Undisclosed Location // $5 // 9 p.m.

If you can find it, this would be worth the visit. That’s what I’ll say about this one.
