All that and a bag of chips: C-U sandwiches that come with free chips

Who doesn’t love a sandwich? I love sandwiches, and I can’t eat a sandwich without chips. I believe that fries go with burgers, and chips go with sandwiches. That’s just how it goes. A sandwich by itself? Not going to happen — not for me, at least. I will happily add on chips to my sandwich order, but there are few spots in town where they know chips are required with sandwiches and offer them for free with the purchase of a sandwich.

Here’s a list of five C-U sandwiches that have chips included in the price.

Now part of Cowboy Monkey, Aroma Cafe is known for their fantastic coffee drinks. Aroma also has a great food menu including breakfast sandwiches (not served with chips) and lunch sandwiches. This pesto grilled cheese ($7.60) comes with a bag of chips. Served on toasted bread, this sandwich has a basil pesto spread with cheddar cheese, provolone cheese, and tomato. You can add chicken to the sandwich for an additional $2.25. All Aroma lunch sandwiches and wraps are served with a complimentary bag of chips.

Capo Sandwich | Baldarotta’s

I mean, this sandwich is food porn. The Capo sandwich ($13) is filled with pistachio mortadella, pepperoni, capicola ham, provolone cheese, spicy peppers and fennel, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, sweet Italian vinaigrette, and spicy brown mustard served on ciabatta bread. This spicy Italian sandwich is sandwich goals, and what’s better? It comes with kettle chips and a pickle spear at no extra cost. In fact, all of Baldarotta’s hot and cold sandwiches are served with chips and a pickle.

You can pick up this sandwich from Baldarotta’s for curbside pick-up, delivery, takeout, or dine in. Follow them on Facebook for more delicious sandwich pictures.

Curied Egg Salad Pita | Cafe Kopi

Okay, so technically, this isn’t a sandwich; it’s a pita. Cafe Kopi has sandwiches on the menu (turkey and brie, cool ham cuke, and more) that come with free chips, too, but this pita is so unique, we have to talk about it. Cafe Kopi’s curried egg salad pita ($7.50) is made with their original curried egg salad and topped with cucumbers, greens, and a currant-almond trail mix. A savory egg salad with fresh cucumbers and a crunchy topping on soft pita bread: it’s a vegetarian texture experience. Chips are included (and a fresh fruit garnish) for all Cafe Kopi pitas and sandwiches.

Cafe Kopi sandwiches are made to order. You can place your pick-up order here, or you can call 217-359-4266 to place your curbside order. Follow Cafe Kopi on Facebook for up to date information on their menu and hours.

Spinach and Mushroom Sandwich | Farren’s Pub

Farren’s is known for their burgers, but they have non-burger menu items worth mentioning. One of them is this spinach and mushroom sandwich ($9): sautéed spinach and mushrooms with grilled tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles served on a baguette. All sandwiches on Farren’s menu — and all their burgers — are served with tricolor tortilla chips included in the price.

You can get your Farren’s sandwich and chips by placing an order for pick-up here, or you can dine at their outdoor patio seating.

Grilled Ham and Cheese | Merry Ann’s Diner

My go-to sandwich is always ham and cheese. This grilled ham and cheese ($4.75) is a perfect diner sandwich: white bread, buttery and crispy from the griddle, with two melty slices of American cheese and two substantial slices of smoky ham. I added onions for 25 cents, and I would recommend it for a nice sweetness. Merry Ann’s sliced this sandwich into triangles (the best way to cut a sandwich). This sandwich came with a large serving of ridged potato chips, which made this pairing a good meal for a low price.

You can get Merry Ann’s sandwiches and chips by delivery through Grubhub, pick-up, or dining in.
