Mix up Jarling’s Custard Cup with Girl Scout Cookies, noon to 11 p.m., prices vary
This weekend only, Jarling’s Custard Cup will offer Girl Scout cookie mix-ins or toppings of Samoas, Tagalongs, or Thin Mints. You can add the cookies to the treats on the menu: Snowstorms, shakes, malts, sundaes, anything. This special Girl Scout cookie and Jarling’s combination is only available this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so get out there and get some. (AB)

Check out the Chaotic Energy exhibition opening, Analog, 5 to 9 p.m., free to enter, bring $ for wine
It’s great to have a new art exhibit opening up at the Analog gallery space, and Chaotic Energy looks like a fun and fascinating journey into the artists’ minds. It features work by A Holier Trinity (aka Emma Sielaff, Skylar Chism, and Shua). Art is available for sale, and the exhibit will be up through March 27th. This is how to do happy hour! (DD)

Celebrate the blues, various locations, times vary, prices vary
Blues Central, an organization dedicated to blues dancing, is hosting their annual SnowMelt, a weekend long celebration of the blues. This year the event will coincide with the opening of a new exhibit at Spurlock Museum, Blues Dancing and It’s African American Roots. From Spurlock to the Channing Murray Foundation to Neil Street Blues there will be dance demos, classes, and live music. You can find the full schedule and pricing here.
Learn about tornadoes with Andrew Pritchard, Staerkel Planetarium, 7 to 8 p.m., $2
Want to learn more about tornadoes and what it’s like to be a storm chaser? This is this event for you. Pritchard is an enthusiastic meteorologist, and he’ll speak to the science and his experience in the field. Video and images will be projected onto the planetarium dome, so this will be super cool — and safe — to learn about and see. (JH)

Attend the CSA Fair, Urbana’s Market in the Square, 8 a.m. to noon, free
The annual CSA Fair is an excellent way to learn about community supported agriculture (CSA). You pay a farmer now for boxes of fresh produce during the growing season, late May through October. It’s the best way to support local businesses and producers. Stop by to learn about options. (JH)
Take the kids to Kids at Krannert, Krannert Art Museum, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., free
Let’s face it, kids like to touch things. So why not lean in and give them a hands-on, interactive art experience at Krannert Art Museum’s Gierz Education Center? There’ll be musical instruments, posters, scrolls, art and artifacts from cultures around the world. (DD)
Be there for the opening of How Long Must Women Wait, Museum of the Grand Prairie, 1:30 to 4 p.m., free
Indeed. How long must they wait. A more timely than ever title for this new exhibit taking a look at women’s suffrage and women’s rights in Champaign County. There will be a reception, preview of the exhibit, and living history presentation to help debut the temporary exhibit. Enjoy some funky fusion with The Data Waves, Muted Color, and others, Rose Bowl Tavern, 7 p.m., $10
This is one eclectic night at the Rose Bowl. The Data Waves will be starting the night off with thier brand of fusion and funk. Then, Muted Colors and Motes bring their own take on the post-punk sound. Finally, Tessa Turner wraps up the night with a solo set featuring her alternative, singer-songwriter vibes. (BH)

Express yourself at the Snakepit Songshare, Loose Cobra, 2:30 to 6 p.m., free
Hogchute is teaming up with Loose Cobra in Tolono for the (sometimes) monthly open mic, Snakepit Songshare. Starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th, they will be serving homemade bloody marys and beer. The music is set to begin around 2:30. This will be a good opportunity to connect with more musicians in the area and/or to test out your material for Monday’s Hootennanny at the Rose Bowl. (BH)

It’s baby goat season! It’s time to rejoice and celebrate the strong ladies who bring those babies into the world — the goat moms. Stop by PFF to grab a hot chocolate (among the best ever, anywhere), and take a walk around the farm. You can ask questions of the staff and learn more about the goats or other farm responsibilities. It’ll be delicious and informative and adorable. Can’t make it this weekend? Mark your calendar for March 22nd. (JH)

Attend the 37th Annual International Dinner, University YMCA, 6 to 8 p.m., $12 for individuals, $10 for students and children
This Sunday, enjoy cuisines from all over the world, entertaining performances, and a keynote address from Dr. Janice Collins, Professor of Media at UIUC. This year’s dishes will be prepared with recipes from Peru, Brazil, Cyprus, Taiwan, China, Bangladesh, and so many more. Additionally, music will be performed by local artists including Jason Finkelman and headlining performer Abraham Mellish. Buy tickets online or at the front desk of the University Y. (AB)
