Located in the back of Furniture Lounge, Plant Mode is Champaign-Urbana’s local home for succulents, cacti, tropical plants, tillandsia, planters, terrariums, design books, and much more. With a commitment to keeping the environment green, Plant Mode’s mission is to “put a plant in every space, correctly.” Funded by seed money through a campaign on indigo.com, owner Matthis Helmick envisions one day having a brick and mortar storefront to call his own.
“I’m back in my hometown… Plant Mode will grow; more will be offered” Helmick says. Currently, Plant Mode is a retail shop which, in addition to plant sales, offers design services and consultation regarding placement, selection, and care of both new and existing plants. “I like the idea of people having a plant that they enjoy caring for. This relationship is pretty great” Helmick says. Offering something for everyone, Plant Mode is indeed one of a kind.
