Americans for the Arts, a non-profit dedicated to advancing the arts in America, will be in C-U next Monday and Tuesday, presenting a two-day workshop titled “Animating Democracy: The Power of Arts in Civic Engagement.” Sponsored by 40 North | 88 West, the workshop will explore the arts as a vehicle for social change.
Day One will consist of sharing and learning about national trends and case studies where arts and culture can play roles in civic engagement. Day Two will focus on specific ideas for the C-U area. Complete information is available at 40 North.
The workshop is intended for “artists, arts organization staff, board members and volunteers, educators, public officials, community organizers, arts presenters, social workers, and any organization or individual interested in incorporating arts strategies to achieve civic and social goals.” We can assume that MFAs and out of work trombonists are also welcome.
